Hello all. I recently came across a piccolo trumpet, and I was wondering if somebody could give me some recommendations for the valve oils, slide greases, etc that I should purchase, as well as how I clean the instrument and properly care for it. Thank you! |

You'll need rotor oil - run it through the pipes to get it on the valves - and bearing/linkage oil - put it on both sides of the valves and on all the moving parts. You DON'T need to take the valves apart to oil them. The back cap comes off to oil the bearing.
Hetman makes both oils in light/medium/heavy. I use Hetman 12 and 14.

I use Hetman 11 on the rotors, as it's a new horn. For a horn that is not new, 12 is good. And yes, 14 for the linkages. _________________ Matt Finley https://mattfinley.bandcamp.com/releases
