So last Friday I had the pleasure to see Gunhild Carling in concert. I was blown away. The level of talent this lady has is off the charts. Her musicianship, energy, simply amazing.

I do not have social media but I wanted to share a couple of videos that I recorded of her if anyone is interested.

Thanks. Yes she is pretty amazing. She must have phenomenal stamina and wind, just leaning into the trombone after tap dancing. I note she was wearing her PMJ dress, but it was not a PMJ concert that I could tell.

Yea you can definitely tell she's go the stamina. I don't think there's a lot of performers that can do that. Also, you'll have to fill me in on what PMJ refers too. The other musicians were local musicians. The drummer especially was very good. I was hoping to see some of her other family but I can see how the cost goes way up bringing others along. I assume that's part of it.

She has been touring again this year with Postmodern Jukebox. She did so some time ago but I noticed recent ones too. Really caught my attention when I realized she was in the same PMJ show as Alison Young (a young musician I like a lot unrelated to trumpet or brass).

Her energy is infectious. You just want to get up and dance along ( or play along ) with her.

No I did not. Wish I had been there and was able to take it. I just found it on Youtube.

I had the pleasure of meeting the entire PMJ company for the last show that Gunhild did with PMJ. The act was amazing. Tell me how she plays three trumpets at the same time! Anyway the next day, she was flying to Kansas to start up her new show as the headliner. I would assume that the content is similar to PMJ. BTW, if you aren’t tuned in to the Postmodern Jukebox, You owe it to yourself to find them. Totally entertaining! The trumpet player on this tour was Mike Cottone, from LA. Wonderful player!

I actually saw her in Kansas which is where I'm from. I did tune into PMJ and they are very good group. Very entertaining. I'm hopping Gunhild comes back or at least somewhere close, maybe next time with PMJ.
