Probably a Bflat cornet in connection with the length of the valve slides.
It looks a lot like the Rauber Montreux cornet down here, little bit the same design though without the mouthpiece stift. Even it's quite possible that on your cornet the brace between the third slide and the bell is removed, you can see the spot on the photo of the thitd slide.

That's certainly an interesting horn.
The design is a Besson design that they built, both French and English firms, with minor tweaks from 1857 until sometime in the early 1920s. The slide after the tuning slide where the wrap extends out past 3rd valve and returns was used for high and low pitch selection (originally one slide that pulled, later dedicated slides). Bb and A were then selected by the pitching shank inserted to hold the mouthpiece.
The markings are vintage Selmer Paris. The thing is, Selmer Paris did not start making trumpets, and a very few cornets, until after they bought the assets of Millereau in 1932. Selmer Paris cornets had their own serial number list, and that serial number would put this horn just a little shy of 1950 - by which time this longest running of Besson designs, using pitching shanks instead of a fixed leadpipe, high/low pitch selection, and the idea of playing in A in general were all extinct.
I have read posts by people who have seen a C/Bb Selmer Paris cornet using pitching shanks from the "later 1950s". Assuming that should have been 40s, that would be an option if the slides on this horn are proportioned for C - they don't look like they are (though with no decent side views, it's really hard to be sure).
This is a 19th century cornet with a mid-20th century serial number for a company that hardly made any cornets - and almost all of those were long models. Very odd. _________________ Ron Berndt

Hello folks,
I have spent the last two years trying to find out the year of a very similar H&A Selmer-Bundy cornet that I bought on Ebay.
After looking at hundreds of photos of old cornets and posting in this forum ( https://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=154937&highlight= ), I began to suspect it was a Besson. It has a serial number of 2613. I wonder if Bundy imported some of these horns? It looks like yours is maybe an older model than mine, which has a fixed leadpipe.
She plays great and is my primary instrument. Photos at the link. The Ebay listing is long dead.

Hello guys, today I recive both cornets, the Conn is in mint condition and plays GREAT!!!!! tonight I will play it in a dixieland jam for first time and I will use a Rudy Muck 19C mpc.
Now the Selmer , the horn is a Bb cornet , is very light , it comes with a vintage case only , no mpc or second mpc shank , the tuning slide is moving but the other slides are frozen , I oiled the valves with a La tromba T1 heavy oil and they work just fine , it needs a good service and cleaning.
Unfortunately the mpcs I have didn't fit , I have a Selmer special 4 double cup probably from 50's but it don't comes in properly, just a little bit, I play it with that and the sound is as pleasant as my 1957 non K mod Selmer 24B , I really like the sound of those old Selmers.
Do you now what kind of mpc fits to this horn , I suppose a short shank 19 century type mpc but I am not sure.
