| Yessir. Routines are sometimes not the right answer for players for this reason. "Daily Maintenance" is not how I approach practice (most of the time). |

Yes, including when doing the most 'easy' playing. The goal should be to do it as good as possible.
Even with a regular maintenance (or warm-up) routine, the most benefit will come from striving to do it well, not to just 'check it off the list'.
Through the 'striving' you are practicing TWO important aspects of playing - the physical and the mental. Do more that just 'pump iron'.

PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |
