Let us know how you like it. Hard to find those (let alone play) Shires over here. _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence

Will do! I think the delay (in part) is due to the fact that I custom ordered a couple of things…a second water key, and silver plating (it usually only comes in lacquer). |

I think you will be very pleased with the build. I have two Shires trumpets, one of which I chose by play testing at the factory (a great experience). _________________ Matt Finley https://mattfinley.bandcamp.com/releases

Thanks, Matt. I'm sure it will be well-built. I'm just hoping that it will help me with accuracy. As a comeback player, I need all the help I can get. If I could play like you, I wouldn't have to worry about such things! |

I tried an Adams A5. Not a big fan. Too much core.
I have a Shires 5 months in the works. Hopefully, this will be “the one”…and hopefully it’ll arrive before Christmas 🎄 |

The Schilke is less secure, but might have a bit more core and character in its sound, but I haven't compared them side-by-side. More like decade-by-decade.
If I were to add another trumpet to my stable and wanted something for stage band or the like, the Shires CLA-L would be at the top of my short list. |
Sounds like a pretty good recommendation to me. |

Another horn you may want to look into is the B&S MBX2. This is an all lightweight horn and I hear it can be quite punchy. Not sure about the „bright“ aspect. |
TrumpetBrain said B&S are awesome horns…beautiful, flexible sound. But they lack the secure slotting of the Shires. So (to me) that’s a no-go. But thanks for the suggestion! |
