Agreed!

I was lucky enough to study with George Vosburgh when I lived in Chicagoland and he told me never play lead from the second chair.

I knew Lary at UNT and later worked with him for two years. Funny that he should be quoted in this article, because one of maybe three or four things that he said that stuck with me was he thought the most important player in a band was the second crumpet player.

As an aside, for those of you who didn't know, Larry played lead in the One O'Clock as a freshman and had a successful career as a first=call L.A. studio player. He was quoted by a fellow pro as being the most accurate trumpet players around.
