Would anyone like to take a stab at what horn Chet is playing on his Tokyo concert gig? Thanks.

I believe he played a Bach Stradivarius 25 bell at this period

It looks to be a Bach. The lighting is such that I can only just barely make out the dual tuning slide/leadpipe vertical braces, but I think I can see them. Valve buttons and pinky ring look very Bach-like, and the receiver also appears to have the characteristic Bach shape. I’ve heard tell of Chet showing up in town without a horn and expecting the promoter or venue to supply him with a Bach from a local store or pawn shop, but those stories could’ve been legend, and also from slightly earlier in his career.

My friend, the great Japanese jazz trumpeter and vocalist (with an uncanny Chet-like singing voice), Hiro Kawashima, owns a horn I recall he said belonged to Chet (which he plays alternatingly with his Monette Tantra). However, looking at his videos on that horn and this one of Baker don’t appear to be the same: https://youtu.be/7c6iGNTQO14

Happy playing AND singing!
