Thanks for that clip! I think everything I've heard from Alison Balsom before has been either the "usual" like Haydn and Hummel, or her excellent renditions on natural trumpet. This was the first time I've heard the Qigang Chen piece, too. An outstanding performance! That third movement is really something.
A few times she deployed an interesting "hybrid" (for lack of a better term) valve technique: her fingertips are used for the first and second valves but she lays her fourth finger across the third valve. My local tech and brass store owner tell any and everyone who will listen not to put their finger across the valves because it makes them go catawampus over time, but it certainly works for her! _________________ 1936 King Liberty No. 2

I don't follow her playing a lot, but whenever I listen to her I almost get lost in it.
