Suppose that I didn't care how much it cost me, I just wanted to get my trumpet platinum plated. Is that even possible (regardless of whether anybody in the industry would actually do it)?

A google search reveals that there are platinum-plated flutes on the market, so it is at least technically feasible. Whether there are third parties that can platinum plate a trumpet, I have no idea.

Just FYI, I found this by doing a Yahoo search for "platinum plating".
(Eliminating the middleman is also "a thing".)

I’m pretty positive it can be done. There are silver, gold, and palladium plated horns out there. The redox potential of Pt is right between Au and Ag, so should work. Needless to say that you will need an experienced plater and possibly it cannot be done directly on the brass surface, similar to gold, where you first need to plate a silver layer on top of which you then deposit the gold.
