I just returned from the International Trumpet-Making Workshop in Bloomington Indiana. It was a wonderful experience and I just want to give a shout out to Rick Seraphinoff, Bob Barclay and Michael Munkwitz who put such a tremendous effort into conducting this workshop and making it a wonderful experience for all who attend. This year they have conducted three workshops one in Germany, one in Great Britain and last week's in Bloomington. Great teachers, great attitudes and wonderful generosity from all three.

In five days the participants make a highly playable natural trumpet (a copy of the Hanns Hainlein 1632 trumpet). More than 800 have been made by participants to date. It is also one of the best ways to get your hands on an authentic natural trumpet. Also, no one has failed to complete a trumpet to date. All 11 participants at the workshop I attended completed their trumpets and we played them together on the last day.

It is a busy five days of hard physical work making a trumpet with hand tools, but extremely rewarding. Highly recommended.
