There are admittedly several things that could have changed over time. For instance, the EPA has had a significant effect on the plating industry, as has OSHA since the 70s. As Bach mouthpieces would go through all of the same processing, have you seen any corresponding plating loss with those?...

I have a Bach 3C mouthpiece bought new about 2 years ago. It gets about an hour a day playing time. The plating is almost worn off the face of the rim.

The trumpet I use it with is the same age and gets the same playing time. It's not a Bach, and it was made in Taiwan so no EPA/no OSHA. The silver plating is completely worn thru on some of the contact points.

Silver plating in general seems to have suffered in recent years.

Nice find! That first valve slide brace reminds me of a Yamaha Chicago (like she formerly played).

That brace appears to be used like a harmonic balancer. But the photo looks odd in that the 1st slide is long enough for a Bb while the rest of the horn is normal C proportions.

That brace on the first slide is there to make up for the brace that can't be used between the outside slide tubes when the first slide is made in the modern "reversed" layout. This is one of the characteristics of the set of MtVernon C trumpets made for the CSO to pick from. Yes, it makes a difference.

The slide length is nothing special. It looks strange because you can't see the rest of the instrument.

A shame for Bach if true. The promise of a new model is holding me off on finding/buying a lightweight 37.

Don't do it! You'll be kicking yourself. I know the new models (which are actually old models in a way) will be out soon. I know that they are beginning to take publicity photos for some of the new instrument promos. #Bachtothefuture

In my experience, one can never end the process of waiting for the next version of anything, at least in America. A characteristic of commercialism.

This is IMHO only, but the ideal all-around sound I've ever heard - and I have played many horns - was a Bach 190-37. And I have never been a Bach person. It's not a heavy horn for the average person, but it is for me, so I had to get rid of it. My point is, though, that if you like a horn, get it. The grass is always greener . .

So if I may summarize the above.... there is a new Bach coming. It'll be a trumpet and make toot toot sounds.

After a year plus of teasing from Bach without any signs of horns being released and the need for a horn being real I went to a gen 2 Yamaha, it toots really well, pays the bills, and most importantly it is a blast to play. Oh well.

They had one in raw brass last June at ITG 2023 in San Antonio (TX). It did not have the life that I like in a Bb tpt, but it might be another player's cup o' tea. I cannot recall any special features, since I only played it for a few minutes, and there were plenty of distractions in the room (i.e. "I can play higher and louder than anyone else in the world, and you need to hear it!").

Honestly, I'm not sure I've played a Bach trumpet I REALLY liked. And I've played a lot of them. The 43 bells are generally pretty good, though.

I get the Yamaha one though. I've played 3 - my college prof's 6345G, my 6335, and the new gen Xeno 8335 that was ordered into the store I worked for at the time.

It must be a shock for you to play a horn which is produced after the release of the Revolver long play record.

It must be a shock for you to play something else than a 50+ old one.
No when I originally played on Bachs they were all on modern Bachs in the time period I had them in the 90s and 2000-2010s. This will be my first vintage Bach. Vintage horns were always Kings and Conns for the most part. I'm also waiting on a new Bach 19072g if it ever gets made. They said it would be made for me this year, but we will see.

I have not played the latest Yamaha horns, so I should give them a fair shot. Maybe I'll be surprised. But just like shires, I'm sure they won't put a 1st trigger on their horns for me either.
