I sometimes come across good deals on trumpets that are local sale only - no shipping - but are far from me. I'd like to use this thread to post such deals, in case someone else is local and interested. Again, these are not my listings, but one's I've found.

If the valves are as correspondingly worn as that Swiss-cheese leadpipe, this one may not be such a bargain.

Yup. One good thing about local deals is the ability to check things out in person. I wouldn't take a chance on having something like that shipped.

| There was a guy selling a Bach Strad on Cincinnati craiglist last spring for $500. I took a chance and got scammed (Paypal). I was not the only one on that particular horn. Don't know about this one. Be careful ! |

Wow, that seller is missing out on a chance at a much higher price by not shipping. The condition of the horn is remarkable for being almost 3/4 of a century old. The receiver looks a little off, so probably a replacement pipe, but the original was a 25 - so easy to match. It's an M-bore with an 0.019" yellow brass 42 bell (not a typo, 42 was one of Bach's bells in the 50s) and has a French bead on the rim. (which appears intact despite some evidence of bell work)
Its quite a find. If this guy had listed it on EBay, I would expect a dramatic end to the auction. Someone local is going to score with this one.
