| Even a blind dog can find a bone sometimes. I saw a local online marketplace ad last evening for a 1940's antique trumpet. The picture was of a flugelhorn with a cornet style wrap. Might have been a Martin or a Buescher or a Bach 182. Went to see it and it was a mid 50's Martin Imperial. Good compression with a couple of minor bell dings and creases. Mouthpiece was stuck. Mount Vernon Bach 3 cornet with no plier marks. Played nicely and the case had very little odour. Took it home for $150 Canadian. Belonged to the seller's grandpa. He was originally from Indiana and owned a tourist lodge in Northern Ontario before he retired to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Apparently he would sit out on his porch of an evening to drink beers and tootle the odd trad jazz tune. I plan to continue the practice. 😀 |

This is it: 1946 Martin Committee in pristine original condition, with origial case, and Martin No. 8 mouthpiece. No patches, no dents, no scratches, almost flawless lacquer, valves look new with excellent compression.
And I though the 1948 Chicago Benge I got at a local estate sales last year was the find of my life. It was in similar mechanical condition except for some lacquer wear.
