Currently bid of $120 for a Jupiter JTR 1624 Xeno C Trumpet in estate sale auction in Redwood City, California. Local pickup only unless third-party shipping is seperately arranged, someone closer than me can get lucky with a pro C trumpet, states that the previous owner played it in the orchestra.

That is neither a Model 215 nor is it a "Super 400". It is an earlier Model 225 "The 400" from likely the 30s based on its nickel-silver mouthpipe and other hard-to-see characteristics.

Shopgoodwill auctions tend to go for more than what I'd consider a "good deal" but here's a 19th century(?) rotary trumpet made by Philipp Reichel in Markneukirchen. Might be worth keeping an eye on if you're in the market:

There are certainly good deals to be had locally. I got my 1969 Olds Custom Crafted P-10 for only $125 from a Craigs List posting. The seller only lived 10 minutes away. She didn't know what she had (even though she was the original owner) and listed it as an unmarked F.E. Olds trumpet. I got my Benge at a local estate sales earlier this year. I was sitting at Panera Bread having a cup of coffee with nothing else to do one morning so I checked the local Estates Sales on my I Pad. One posting had the Benge listed for $1,000. My eyes lit up when I saw a close-up photo of the bell. I was able to inspect and play the Olds and the Benge before I bought them. I always have mouthpieces (trumpet and cornet), valve oil, and a flashlight handy when I go to an Estate Sales. No tax. No shipping costs. But you've got to be ready to make a quick decision on the spot. I also picked up a Kanstul French Besson International at an Estate Sales for $116 once. They had a $150 price tag on it but I was able to talk them down because the valves and slides were all stuck. It was almost in mint condition other than that. I had to strap it on the back of my motorcycle. The lady running the sales took a photo of me driving off with it. They had a Yamaha student trumpet in much worse condition listed for $300 sitting next to it. Go figure. Estate Sales people may know their antiques and Rolex watches, but they don't know squat about trumpets. I picked up a Blessing ML1 trumpet off of Craigs list once. The guy selling it had a degree in music but was working at a Starbucks. The Blessing and International were good deals but both were on the stuffy side. I was surprised that the International was a M bore horn when I measured it. I got smarted about checking valve alignment since then. All this all started when my daughter said out of the blue that she and her friends wanted to play trumpets in the 6th grade band. Life is good. Life is better with music. _________________ Kanstul FB Classic b-flat&C

Indeed. I love the online estate or auction listings where there's one blurry picture of the trumpet, and three pictures of the case, two of the mute, and one of the lyre. _________________ 1932 King Silvertone Artist Bore

I just found the AD from the CL and thought it was a good deal.
But it would feel awful if it was a scam... |

I just scored a Getzen Eterna cornet from the 60s. Awesome silver plate, first valve trigger, and lever water keys.
$200! Best deal I've ever gotten _________________ Getzen 3051 Custom

Oh, that's a sweet deal. I'm jealous.
From whence did this deal spring? Local? Craigslist? Facebook Marketplace? eBay? _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

It was local on Facebook. Older woman that was selling off her late husband's horns. All student horns between 200-500, this Getzen was among the student horns. I told her it was worth a more than she was asking, but she was still good with selling it for the $200 _________________ Getzen 3051 Custom

Another local deal success for you all, A triple leather reunion blues case full of mutes, mouthpieces, oils, and a MK gold plated strad tuning slide.
Listed on facebook as "odds and ends bag". Got it for $100.
These bags go for 150, these mutes are easily over 100, a bunch of Denis Wick stuff, and a TON of mouthpieces. Nothing wild, but probably 20 Bach/schilke/UMI pieces. _________________ Getzen 3051 Custom
