Though new to TH, I've followed it for too long.
Here's the short story. I ordered Zaja Valve oil the beginning of October.
Only a brief email receipt was sent then.
After that, NADA, rien, nothing. Many emails to Rich and Andre, and a few phone messages.
No response. No phone. No emails. Empty.
I'm ready to cancel the credit card order and switch to.. ...Blue Juice ?
I love their oil ( prefer the mulberry scent...no comments please šŸ˜œ).
So, what gives ? Any insiders around that can explain?
Perhaps they even read TH.

Iā€™m sad to say this has been the case for a while. Rich is on Facebook. Try him there before cancelling.

Thx Matt. Though not Luddites, we don't do any social media, such as Facebook. Security concerns.
Still, no reasonable excuse for poor business and just plain lack of response.
They just don't seem to care . Guess I'll go to Blue Juice; unless you have a better oil suggestion.

Last time I ordered from them there was zero communication and it took about five months for my order to be filled. Email only returned a generic message.
It was definitely the last I will give them my money.

The Monster Oil guys are very responsive, bend over backwards to make sure you get the right lube for the right horn, and it's good stuff.

Last time I tried ordering and sent a message, asking about my order, Rich Szabo made a point of reminding me that he was a professional musician and traveling with his band.

Do as you will, but I can't endorse Blue Juice as an alternative.

Blue Juice is pretty gross.

I was pretty sure Zaja blue was discontinued a long time ago.

The new synthetics have a following, and I like Ultra Pure. Probably any of them are fine--Yamaha, Wick, Monster, etc.

Blue Juice does have a following in some circles. I got a bottle of it with a euphonium. I've never learned the story on it. It kind of sounds like some car oils, where it is supposed to clean and lubricate?

Used it for years. The best valve oil I'd ever found. Never had any valve issues, valves were lightning fast smooth & even.

Then along come production problems...availability and supply became questionable. Vendors had no idea when or if they might get an order filled.

After an oil safari I'm now using Yamaha Synthetic Regular. Works as well or better.

If only Yammie had it in Mulberry scent...

Big capitalist opportunity for another quality scented valve oil. Takers ?
If Msrs Rich and Andre can't do their biz, tell us. Doesn't look good.
Who cares for "on the road" or any excuse.

That's where I'm heading, if my supply of Hetman ever runs dry.

I'm still hoping for a scented Best Dam Trumpet Leadpipe Swab.

For the oil engineers out there: can perfume be added to your fav oil ?
Or, can we stop using Zaja's name in vain ?
I canceled the order. Now onto an oil safari ( Cass, Blue J, Monster, Yam, etc.. )...I'm confused šŸ˜¢

I used Zaja for awhile, always had to scour the internet for Music stores that had it in stock, emailed Zaja direct, no response. Finally got sick of the safari, tried Blue Juice and it works fantastic for me. Problem solved!

Am I remembering correctly that Blue Juice had a horrible smell.

I prefer oils with no odor and will try oils that TH members rage about but might have a mild odor. If I'm remembering correctly Blue Juice stinks. Please correct me if I'm thinking of another product.

"What a revolting predicament".
Will stick to Cass since it has worked....no smell.
No advice for adding Eau de parfum like Chanel #5 to oil ? šŸ˜

I used to use a mixture if Kerosine and 3-in-One Oil. Now, THAT smelled. Didn't hurt me none.

To be clear, my low opinion of Blue Juice has nothing to do with it's smell and everything to do with how well it does at keeping valves going up and down.

It does work for some, though.

Personally, I try to use oils that don't irritate my throat with fumes. So, Holton, 5 Starr, Blue Juice, and several others are right out.

I also would prefer not to have some silly fragrance, either. I've never gotten the (seemingly mostly American) thing of needing to add a scent to everything. I'd prefer not to have stinky chemicals fooling me into thinking something is pleasant. Or even natural oils rather than nasty chemicals. Just no.

But, to each their own.

For the record, I endorse Yamaha Synthetic (Tim's spot on here), Ultra Pure, and Hetman. Monster might be good too, I haven't given it enough of a run and I'm already satisfied with the previous 3.

Now just wait C.F. There's more to oil than oil. And this ain't no "American thing" (where the H did that come from ?). My G2 says you Minnesota types use underarm smellies year round. True fact. My search for the mulberry oil died, BUTT, when I had it everyone, Americans all, loved it. Hey, I loved it. JMNSHO
