Hi all,
I've been playing trumpet for approximately 17 years, but I've never dealt with the digital marketplace for trumpet buying/selling (until yesterday when I bought this and hopefully it was a good deal). I'm looking to sell off my older student trumpet, and a trumpet that I inherited from my uncle, but finding some information about the models (so that I might see what a normal price range is) has been a little difficult - probably I'm just looking for the wrong things. Would anyone be able to help me identify the models of the trumpets I have, and if possible offer some commentary about the condition of both horns?

The 1st trumpet is a student trumpet that would have been purchased from Music and Arts circa 2005. Whether or not it was new or used at the time, I do not know. The trumpet has the following identifying information:
Manufacturer is Bach
Mouthpiece area has the number "1530"
2nd valve has the number "E65139"
The following are pictures. The paint has chipped in many places and there are a handful of minor dents, but it was still playable in 2012 when we purchased my current trumpet and has been in the case since.

(showing extent of paint chip on this part of the horn)

The 2nd is a trumpet that my uncle had. He probably would have played it in the mid-to-late 1970s; whether it was used or new at the time I can't say either. When I received it from him, the third valve was dented such that pressing it down made it nearly impossible to bring back up; it was fixed at a shop, but I never really spent any time playing it to be a judge of the quality of the sound or anything. Part of the 1st valve slide is visibly rusted/paint chipped and seems to be a different component entirely; you can see this in the pictures. It has the following identifying information:
Bell contains text indicating manufacturers Bach, Bundy, Selmer
2nd valve has the number 304759 and below, the letters ML

Thanks in advance, and please let me know if more information is requested or if this is not an appropriate post.

Congratulations on the new trumpet. It looks like you purchased a C trumpet. Are you keeping a Bb trumpet as well?

I think the 2 trumpets you listed here are both Bundy trumpets, which Bach sold as student trumpets. In very good condition with the original case, they might be worth $200 each. With cosmetic damage or other issues, maybe $100 each.

I have a Bach Strad Bb from when I graduated high school, yes. Recently got involved in a local orchestra and decided I'd be better off getting a C trumpet than transposing in my head or writing in the pitches.

Thanks for your assessment! I should have figured my uncle's would be a student trumpet as well lol. In that case, I'm jealous the kind of horn he had didn't have as much wear on it as the one I used (though granted I probably played much more) lol

Nope, sorry, not a C trumpet. They are both Vincent Bach "designed" (they say he designed the Bundy, but it is more like "specified") school instruments. The design of these horns is more or less balanced, so they look similar to a C trumpet's bell sticking forward from the slide, but they are Bb.

The first is the 1530 model beginner Bach (probably 1990's or later, with the offset 1st slide) and the second one appears to be the early Selmer/Bundy with the 2 piece nickel baluster cylinder, likely mid 1960's to 1970 production. These were sold as student line instruments. They probably play better than many current imported beginner horns, if in good mechanical condition.

Huntman10, you misunderstood my post. The 2 pictured here are Bb trumpets. The one TrumpetEvie purchased (if you follow the link) is an Eastman C trumpet.

As TrumpetEvie mentioned, he was looking for a C trumpet, so he does not have to transpose.

Eastman Trumpets are made in China. I have the 540, which is a D/Eb trumpet. I found it to have better intonation then my former trumpet teacher's Stomvi Maurice Andre Eb trumpet. He also tried my Eastman and thought it played very well.

My new C has arrived in the mail! Great condition!

Thanks for the commentary about the Bb trumpets. Seems they probably wouldn't be worth much. I figured that would be the case.
