I just have to ask:
I had an injury to both of my Buccinator muscles inside my mouth- muscles actually torn and were stitched up- no nerve damage.
This was about three years ago...

I am picking up the trumpet again, and getting my embrochure set up, etc....

You know when they say, you break a bone, it grows back stronger ? How about muscles, will I be ok ? (not a pro, but id like to get up to playing a couple hours a day). There is noticeable scare tissue in cheeks, but not blocking any air....

Any advice, thoughts, etc.... Thanks, I'm brand new here.

Cordially, Dan

Just go slowly, and remember that you cannot get into better shape by injuring yourself.

KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'.

Was this a trumpet related injury? If so, I would try and find out why it happened so that you can avoid causing it to happen again.

No it was actually sport- freestyle wrestling, just a strange happening.. I was just hoping that it would grow back stronger...

I've always been an athletic or at least active person, and at 65 I've had many injuries over the years. I've had quite a few where I've come back without loss, and some where the loss was minimal, but I've never had one where I came back better.
