Login Getting Lost?

Since late last week, I have been having problems with the site 'forgetting' that I'm logged in. I will log in, compose a reply or a PM, and when I try to preview or submit it, I get routed to the login page. Sometimes I have to try two or three times before my post gets submitted.

Is anyone else having this problem? It could be me -- I'm on a laptop with an out-of-date operating system (Windows 7 Professional).

I've already PM'd the appropriate party.

No. Not just you. Happening to me on my iPad Pro with up-to-date operating system and apps.

Edit: (Although this post today worked just fine…yesterday had problems)

I have had this issue with FireFox on my iPad and iPhone for months. I do know Todd has been working on the site and thought it might be due to a change.

It could also be due to the adblocker I use preventing information being stored between sessions.

IIRC I would downgrade FireFox and my adblocker separately and see if the issue was introduced during either one’s updates.

Note: Up to date might not be good if the newest version of an app introduces a bug.

I already pm‘ed the site management (Trumpetherald) a few days back. No response so far. Been an issue for some time now.

Got the same issue since maybe 2 weeks or so (it started after the recent 'slow site' issues were fixed). In addition, on rare occasions I get a Cloudflare i.e. firewall) warning. Might be related, might not.

I'm not having trouble logging in but weird things are happening. Yesterday I posted a reply to a particular thread. It showed up in the thread but when I checked back later that day to see if there were any replies, my post was missing.

me too, Windows 10 and Firefox.

probably has something to do with 'authentication' timeout with the session that did the login.

I've been working on this issue. I'm unable to reproduce it on any system I use which makes troubleshooting quite a bit more difficult.

When I do a ping or tracert to trumpetherald.com , I see that it is using an ipv6 address .
Do you (or your host provider - Cloudflare) know if ipv6 is new lately? It might be related.
magic words to tech support might be: authentication ipv6 to ipv4 browser

As of now, I seem to be able to maintain my login thru multi post views, etc.
Even did computer 'restart' and then login, and it remains working.

I did not change any manual settings on computer or browser.

Maybe my doing 'command line' ping and tracert to trumpetherald.com and also to its raw ipv6 ip addr worked some 'internal magic'

I composed and submitted this post without needing to do a re-login

and my router is a UBEE dvw42cb

Just had to log in again - it holds for hours, or days, but not consistently. Seeing this in Chrome, Edge and Safari.

Feedback mostly for Todd…

I haven’t lost a login all day on my iPad using Firefox 110.1 (28420).

Normally lost it every second or third time I returned after running another program. Never if I just changed focus. It was also pretty random.

If you need someone to run tests or would like more of my observations I am happy to assist. (I am a retired software engineer)

The point is not on what platform it worked better or how often this happens. It should not happen at all.

I suppose any complaining about something somebody else does while you get the benefit and none of the grief is a bit disingenuous. But at the same time, I've always had the personal ethic burned into me that if "something's worth doing, it's worth doing right".

This software leaves much to be desired and it can only get more obsolete as time goes on.

But, again, my respect and gratitude for the people making this Forum happen but it's probably time for an update, if not a complete overhaul.
