I have always envied how music played by fans is prevalent in the baseball culture of some countries. Heck, Japan even has individualized trumpet cheers for every player in a lineup!
This year at the World Baseball Classic, a friend pointed out to me that "trumpet" was specifically mentioned on the list of allowed items into Chase Field in Phoenix - something that is not the case during the regular Major League Baseball season.
I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I am not a professional and not a special player, but I had an absolute blast bringing my horn to the ballpark and playing everything from "Charge" to the Back to the Future theme.
It's my hope that in the future, trumpet playing can become a regular feature at MLB stadiums the way it is in Japanese professional baseball.
