I'm using a 3B+ Stork Vacchiano Custom gold plate. I just got a flugel and wondered what the equivalent might be for a flugel MP.

Do you pick flugel mp's like that? I feel like the stork feels really good (shape) and it's probably my imagination but the gold plate feels smoother!

+1 to that - the Stork 3 rim is pretty unique and they also make Flugel pieces so they should be able to set you up.

The Vacchiano 4 and Studio Master 6 rims are the same and around a 5C size. They have much more bite than their other rims.

They're my go to C trumpet, piccolo, and Bb lead mouthpieces. Customizable and cheap, absolutely fantastic stuff.

I wanna try cutting one for C trumpet length a la Pickett and others, it really makes a difference.

I play a Studio Master FLS6. The cup is fairly shallow for a flugel cup, and it only has a 22 throat, but the sound is big. The backbore must be larger than average. I agree that it's roughly a Bach 5 diameter. Low register is great. High register is easy and full. Flexibility is outstanding.

Well, I took your advice and called Phyllis. She was very nice and gave me a great suggestion. I ordered the Stork 3FL. Can’t wait to get it and try it out.

Well got the 3FL in and man, it's deeper than I've ever played. Anyway, I still like the feel of the mp, but i started hearing a noise while I play almost like a buzz from the mp but it went away. Not an issue with the mp but with me not playing a cup that deep. Anyway, gotta get on it a practice!
