The CSO paid tribute to Mr. Herseth in 2021 when he would have turned 100. Halfway down the page is a compilation of him playing Promenade from Pictures at an Exhibition, extracted from the 7 recordings of the piece he did with the CSO.

I found this while searching for a good example of his playing to share with someone studying trumpet. Clearly, I need to study this a bunch too....

On the 1951 recording, Bud was probably playing his 7B. That was the favorite and what he won the job one.
Even though it is mono, it was then state of the art and still sounds good today.
His sound was revolutionary and both critics and players could not believe what he could do.

My H.S/University trumpet teacher played a recording of only one example of someone else playing a trumpet sound to emulate and that was this excerpt by Herseth.
