It’s been quite awhile since I’ve made a post on here. Have acquired some interesting horns. Once I figure out how to post pictures I’ll update. I have these three trumpets that I know very little about. Just collected over the years. Mainly purchased for interesting looks and being “vintage”. Anyone know anything about them?
•Rotary Trumpet - Don’t remember if Bb or C. I’ll play later on tuner and find out. N462 on bell
•Autocrat Foreign - Hammered bell design. Bb. Previous Owner told me he purchased overseas when he was younger. Looks to have a removable piece on tuning slide for C but stuck right now
•Advance - Bb/C. Older style valve caps

Pull the valve slides and check for a line that indicates tuning to A. That section of the main slide is most likely for tuning to A. If you take it out it will play in C until you press the valves down. Since they are not short enough for C it won't play well.
I had an old Czech-made Concertone like this.

The rotary could be Russian. They show up on a fairly regular basis over here. Usually they don’t get very excited reviews
The one with the hammered bell could be of GDR ancestry. Similar horns again show up here quite often, with and without hammering. A lot of them seem to be made in Markneukirchen, one of the historic regions of instrument manufacturing and the German/Czech border. _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence
