I have Vincent Bach C trumpet serial number 55XXX CL (c. a. 1970 I suppose) with Lechner removable bell (kind of spring on the second valve chasing which keep the bell- it takes 5 sec to remove the bell) and with the trigger on main tuning slide. My question is all these elements are factory made or custom made? And if there is a way to specify the year of manufacture. Thanks

Pretty sure it’s custom. Lechner has a reputation for his own custom horns. They build the full range of brass instruments (yes I’d love to have one of their bass trumpets but way too expensive for me) and they definitely have the skill and workshop for all kinds of crazy mods.

My main C since about 30 years is a Bach CL with a Lechner bell and Malone MC1 pipe.

By far the best C I've played. And I own two Malone C's.

As others have noted, this is NOT a factory horn. The mods (removable bell and trigger for main tuning slide) were done by a reputable outfit called Lechner.

From this list, looks like the main original Bach trumpet was made 1970.

Thanks for answering. Is there a way to specify if the leadpipe is a Malone one? There is no markings on the pipe, only a visible seam, so it means that the pipe was handmade.

What you have there is a “frankenhorn” project made from a Bach C trumpet body with what seems to be a Lechner bell and mystery leadpipe. (The receiver and the dress-up bead on the tube at the large end of the taper do not look like Bach parts.) There is no telling what the leadpipe is - No, Malone never made seamed leadpipes.

I think answers to your questions are only to be had by getting in touch with the previous owner that ordered the modifications or to get in touch with Lechner to see if they have any information from when they (presumably) did the work.

Unfortunately I'm not a professional trumpet player. I'm a technician and run brass and woodwind shop. Before selling each horn I'm trying to get as much info as it is possible

Any idea of the value of such horn? The price of such frankenhorn would be similar as original horn it was made from, or cheaper? Since it's customized it's almost impossible to compare the price with other horns.

In the TH Marketplace, that horn might sell for anywhere between $1500-2500, but I'm only basing that on observations of my own modified horns and others I've seen marked as "SOLD." If thread contributor "trumpetera" (Principal trumpet Gothenburg Opera Orchestra) has used something similar for 30 years as his main C tpt, then that tells you it is probably a great player, and someone might pay $3K or more...but that would be if they had time to playtest in their performance arena to decide...which is probably not going to be practical for someone in the market, so you'd probably find yourself selling it for less...like, in the $1800-2200 range.
