Hello,
I am interested in the Studio Master WM mouthpiece but confused by the sizes of the rims that jump from 16,18 mm according the Stork’s site (MouthpieceExpress says 16,5!) for the 4 to 17.7 for the 2.
Anyway, the 4 seems too small for me. Does anyone play or has played a WM2 mouthpiece ? What do you think of this mouthpiece ? Does it feel so big ? Usually I play 16,8/17 mm mouthpieces.
Thanks for any information.

Not an exact answer but hopefully something you find helpful:
I have a Stork Vacciano 3C, 3E and a Studio Master VM4. I feel very comfortable around that 16.5 mm size.

For me, I'm not sure I could actually play the larger VM2. I guess I play with some lip intruding into the cup and on the VM4 I find my top lip touching the cup from time to time if I let my lips get "too loose". I have a feeling that the larger rim would just make it worse and as it is, I don't really notice the difference with the smaller 4 rim.

Their measurements are kinda wacky. The SM4 feels very similar to a 3C to me, although with a much thinner rim. The SM2 is around a 1.25C -1C.

Gentlemen,
thanks for your answers.
I made some more searches and found a thread I missed :

https://www.trumpetherald.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5799&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

A lot of interesting information there, among them the confirmation that the VM2 is not that big and more around a Bach 1.25/1.5 than 17.7…
Stork mouthpieces are sold by Thomann, so I will try…
Regards

I just joined Trumpet Herald so I only saw your request today.

I have several Storkcustom mouthpieces.
- A Storkcustom 1 (a little small for me)
- A Storkcustom 1.5B+, #26Bore, C Chamber Backbore
I have played this MP of about 26 years, and recently had it replated by Storkcustom.
- A Storkcustom 1.5B+, #25Bore, D Symphonic Backbore (recently accquired from Storkcustom)
I use these now in a symphony orchestra, each has different sonic qualities.
---
These are all very large mouthpieces.

I also use and play, a Stork Studio Master VM2 mouthpiece. But this MP is too bright for a symphony orchestra, but great for jazz and it is possible. Although I can easily switch among them, The VM2 is a comfortable MP to use, just not the sound for a symphony orchestra.

Here is a link to the Storkcustom site, where you can see the exact specifications.
https://storkcustom.com/mouthpieces/trumpet-mouthpieces-2/#VacSpecs|4

Just for the record, I also use and regularly play on a Schilke #24, for certain types of sound that I want in the orchestra.

Although late I hope that this post will be of some help.
As a Note: StorkCustom mouthpieces do not play, feel nor sound like Bach mouthpieces. I have played a Bach 1C for years and the Storkcustom are, for me, a lot more comfortable and sound better.
