So I'm trying to date a nice 8310Z made between 2004 and 2018 (Gen 1). As we know, Yamaha is terrible with serial numbers and while it seems impossible for them to have made 5 million of these, the serial numbers wind up in the high D##,### range.
I'm looking at a 756,XXX right now, but the only reference I have is a 2015-built C90XXX.
Anyone who knows when their 8310Z was new, and it's pre 2018 release of the 8310Z-II with the 2-piece casings, your date and first few of the serial would be very helpful here.

I purchased my Gen I 8310Z in October of 2004; the serial number is 749XXX.

Wow, I thought there would be more people out there with this horn. It's a remarkably good instrument.

Perhaps others felt that my reply, providing a serial number slightly less than yours and fixing the production date in 2004 (at the start of your specified range), was all the feedback you'd need.
