Nice playing 👍
They both sound good, just depends on what you are seeking in your sound. Seems like you are better able to color the timbre of the Thane a bit more than on the Monette. The Thane sounds bright in some passages and mellow in others, as compared the the Monette. The Monette sounds more mellow throughout the range and passages. How do they compare from your side of the horn?

The Monette seemed brighter and clearer in person, but it was the harder horn to play. The slotting was a bit slippery for me, so I found myself missing a lot more notes on the Monette.
The Monette also had a tighter blow, which I struggled with anytime I’d play more than 2 hours. The horn felt like it would be working against me.
I’m much more comfortable on the Thane. The sound is warmer, which I prefer. Slotting is exactly where I’d expect. The sound is broader and still clear. And it’s also lighter than the Monette even if I have a full heavy trim kit on the Thane.
I’d you enjoy the feel of a Bach 37, I think you’ll feel at home on the Chicago Monette.
If you prefer a more open blow, the Thane feels less restricting and overall plays easier for me. _________________ Thane Performing Artist
