I recently bought a Bach 184 Strad cornet. From what I can tell the instrument was made in 1983. The case is aged but in great shape. That said, the metal emblem on the case is quite damaged. Does anyone know how I can buy a new or very good used logo to replace it?

Here's an image of the emblem I'm looking for:

I guess I'll just keep the old disfigured emblem on my case. In some respects it just adds to the 'patina' to my rig. However, if I could find a good replacement I'd be hard-pressed not to replace it.

I've seen a few examples like this on eBay. It's only $2.99.

I presume that's not a photo of the emblem on our case? Because if it is, it doesn't look half bad imho.

It is. It has two large crimps on the upper left and lower right. The upper left actually pulls the leather away from the case.

It looks like the previous owner tried to pry the emblem away from the case and couldn't get it off, but pulled the leather away from the case. My aim is to restore it to close to new.

The emblem was missing from my old Bach trumpet case. I bought one of those and it was exactly the same size as the original.

Great! Good to hear. It appears to me that someone started to pry the emblem on my case off for some reason and gave up. I'm hoping to apply some heat, remove the old one, and repair the leather around the emblem, then replace the emblem with a new one.

We'll see!
