Saw this on ebay at

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3715501542&category=16214

I have never heard of these horns. Does anyone know much about them. The seller seems to think it's a pretty hot item.

Steve

Thomas Inderbinen is sort of the Swiss answer to David Monette. He makes very high quality trumpets of somewhat exotic design. People either love them or hate them. His horns are priced like Monette's as well. Something like 5000 CHF gets you in the door, and it goes up from there.

Sorta looks like an Olds Ambasador with Amado water keys. I wonder if it really plays that much better than a good Ambassador?

I have always wanted to try one of those myself. I'm not sure the cost justifies that horn though.

This particular seller thinks all of his items are "hot" if you notice.

I'm not the guy selling but that was actually once my horn. Bought it from Rayburns 12 years ago for $2100. BTW, it was a terrific horn and probably still is. I was also the one who made the alterations to the horn that's mention in the ad. I noticed too that this is the second time this seller has listed this horn on eBay.

Looks like he sure is looking to make a profit on it!

How did the horn play Larry? Was it not worth the $2100 you paid for it? Any particular reason you sold it? Did you sell it directly to Marek?

Inderbinen makes fine horns, as said, Roy Hargrove plays on a trumpet and Randy Brecker on a Flugel. I played both recently and they were very good horns. Thomas Inderbinen is a saxophoneplayer himself !

James Morrison ordered a special Alpha Model himself. The prices aren't cheap. The Alpha is around 4000 CF, Prototype around 5000 CF

Inderbinen made a special 3rd valve stop. It has 3 ways of putting it. Closed, half or open.

This is really a great horn, period. It has a beautiful but fairly bright sound, and not at all metalic. Just a great tone. Originally the horn was a tuning bell model, like all Alpha horns. When playing it I could notice an occasional vibration at certain note frequencies that bothered me. I had the tuning bell altered to a fixed bell and eliminated that problem. I also had the U hooks changed out to O rings and also added the gold wash bell. Marek probably doesn't know this but I also had the inside part of the lead pipe gold plated. Someone told me that air moves more freely over gold than raw brass. I have no idea if that's actually true but I had it done to this horn anyway. I'm still kicking myself in the butt for selling it. And no, I didn't actually sell it Marek. I have no idea how he ended up with it. I contacted him the first time he posted it for sale in the TH Marketplace with an offer but he wasn't interested. Why did I sell it? I don't have a good reason. Just one of many stupid things I've done in life.

plankowner110 : do you really think that what you see is what you hear ?
Many trumpets look like an Ambassador.
Generally : be very careful with hodealsmoko !!

I was just kidding about the price comparison of this trumpet to an Ambassador. The original owner of the trumpet attests to its quality in a post above and he is a trustworthy TH member. (I don't know anything about the seller- hotdeal1smoko(?) )

Well ... hope you guys haven't done business with him recently. He recently left me a negative feedback on Ebay on a horn he bought from me 3 months ago! ... all for talking about him here on the TrumpetHerald. He's watching .. beware.

I won't be doing business with him EVER again I can assure you all.
