2024-2026 GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIP IN TRUMPET/2ND TRUMPET WICHITA SYMPHONY

WSU SCHOOL OF MUSIC
DR. DAVID HUNSICKER
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF TRUMPET

ASSISTANTSHIP INCLUDES:

Position as second trumpet player in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra (audition for Music Director required).
Opportunity to teach university students and play leadership roles in various ensembles.
Performance in the Wichita Brass Quintet with four brass faculty members.
Full tuition waiver for two years of graduate study (applicable for in-state or out-of-state students).
Stipend of $8000 per school year from the university.
Compensation from Wichita Symphony Orchestra (typically 65-70 services for second trumpet at an average of approx. $100 per service - COVID impact unknown at this time).

The most recent GTA in this position was Billy Berue, now a member of The President's Own.

Wow, now that's not a bad opportunity at all. And, Wichita is more affordable than most places. Great opportunity for a student. Too bad I'm too old!!

Nice. If I can think of anyone, I'll let them know. I was a student when Judith was teaching. Although I did not take lessons from her, but Hank Elder.
