I read on a web site that Arturo in Cuba actually studied the Claude Gordon books. When I first read this I was so suprised at how popular/good the Claude Gordon method really is. And how it got to different countries. Obviously the method worked For Arturo Sandoval. I wonder how he found out about? humm.. and how he got the books?? But still just to know that it worked for Arturo just gives me a new reason of why I should practice the method and why I should look up to Arturo.

I was present at Claude Gordon's Honorary Doctorate Ceremony at La Sierra University when Arturo (who was also a guest) told Claude that he used his books while studying and developing in Cuba.

The Maggio/Gordon style exercises I have seen in Arturo's 2nd Trumpet exercise book are quite familiar looking!

The stuff works!

All for now,

...... the answer is yes that Jimmy Stamp did study with Louis Maggio for a very short time and then went on his own to develop his own system.
Like Claude Gordon they both used some of the principals of the Maggio System but like most teachers they were very complicated and inclined to confuse some of their students.
I played with Claude at CBS radio and on many occasions but I never played with Jimmy although he was a friend of mine.
They were both gentlemen and good players and produced good students but Louie was the master and I'm sure that it was his simple direct style that created so many good players.
If there is a secret that is it "SIMPLE TRUTHS", and easy to understand.

The Maggio book referred to -- is this the one written by Carlton Macbeth or is there another and is it still being printed?? I have the CG books and I am a bit confused with the references to the CG/Maggio methods.
Can someone clarify this for me?

Yes, I believe they are referring to the book written by Carlton Macbeth. Not sure if it is still in print, but I can show you a copy. Give me a call.
