Greetings fellow Caruso students-

I'm finding that adding the 3rds intervals, along with the harmonic scales is a BIG step up in intensity for me. I'm finding things are getting quite stiff. Should I consider breaking up the routine?

I find I have much more success doing this stuff at the beginning of the day, I have been doing week 1 for about 2 or 3weeks. I have, however, switched mouthpieces a bit during this time, and have definitely found that it tends to hinder progress with the Caruso exercises.

Any thoughts and advice are appreciated!

Thanks-rudas

There will be less of a demand on your chops to figure out the answer to sound production if you stay with one mouthpiece, preferably the one you are most familiar with.

Very goodl. Terse, yet logical reply.

Would your advice be then to stick with the group of Wk.1 exercises until things normalize? Additionally, I'm doing alot more other practice because of an upcoming audition.

thanks-Rudas

*** Would your advice be then to stick with the group of Wk.1 exercises until things normalize? ****

I read this to mean that you would not advance your exercises beyond week 1. That you would only play the studies from that week until you feel that things are stabilized (normalized).

My answer is to continue adding week 2, week 3, 4, 5, etc., to your practice schedule. Hopefully the Caruso exercises will be a major factor in creating a stabilization and progressve development in your embouchure and playing.
