Hey all,
I know this cd doesn't even have a trumpet on it, but Arturo plays a mean horn and, boy am I here to tell you, he plays even meaner piano. The guy's a monster piano player. It's a great cd, some great parts where the trio is just connecting and groovin' and you can feel it. Good stuff, always neat to see the musician behind the trumpet player. What's your take on the cd or trumpet players recording on different instruments? I know gillespie played piano on a couple records, anyone else?

He's a musician. And a damn good one. It's not about the axe, that's a tool. He plays mean percussion and sings great too!
He wasn't shy about laying the piano player he has on the road with him to waste. This 24 year old Puerto Rican kid played his ASS off, and then waited patiently at the bar while Arturo showed him what time it was...
There are a couple of guys here in Seattle that play trumpet and saxophone. One guy, Jay Thomas, arguable the baddest man in town plays the hell out of ALL the saxophones, flute, clarinet, piccolo,.... you get the point.
Personally, I may branch out to other instruments when I feel limited by my trumpet. For the time being, and for as long as I can imagine, I simply limiting TO my trumpet. _________________ Nicholas Dyson
