I was wondering what kind of embouchures Bobby Shew and Wayne Bergeron use? Are they similar to each other? How do they set there lips when they are ready to play?
Thanks |

The best answer is, they use the embouchure they've developed over the years. |

Mr. Jacobs was one of the finest brass players of any century. I was lucky to get some lessons with him during one summer of my undergrad years at Northern Iowa (Keith Johnson was the trumpet teacher at that time, he encouraged us to study in Chicago when we could).
How the embouchure looks from the outside has little to do with how it functions. Mr. Jacobs, at my first lesson, played the Carnival on his mouthpiece in several locations and they all sounded the same. The last phrase he played with the mouthpiece on top of his head (lip buzzing this incredible tone). That took care of the question of mouthpiece placement and he proceded to help my mechanics to work well by focusing on the result rather than the means.
To tie this in with James Stamp (we are on the Stamp Forum) I've found much in common with the teaching of James Stamp and Arnold Jacobs. |
