I would really like to get some CDs that feature Juancito Torres on trumpet.
Can anyone make any recomendations? What ones are particularly good? |

Dear comebackkid,
I am from Puerto Rico and Juancito is one of my favorite trumpet players. I have two recordings with him on trumpet: (1) Fania All Stars Bravo'97 and (2) En aquellos tiempos from Batacumbele. Go to http://www.descarga.com and search for Juancito Torres. It will give you a list of recordings where he performs. I hope this helps.
Take care! _________________ LTD

latin_trumpet,
Thank you sooo much!
I was begining to think that nobody would respond. Maybe a lot of people haven't heard of juancito.
He is a very exciting trumpet player!
Amazing power and energy coming out of this small package of a trumpet player. quite impressive!

I just checked http://www.descarga.com and there are so many recordings that feature Juancito, It's hard to know where to start. I think I will check out Fania All Stars, and Puerto Rico All Stars first.
Too bad he has no solo CDs....or does he?

As far as I know he does not have a solo album. Fania All Stars and Puerto Rico all Stars are both good choices.

jhatpro,
If you want to hear some smokin' latin stuff, check CDs by Cubanismo (starring Jesus Alemany). I really enjoy them, and I bet you will too.

you're right! i found a cubanisimo track on a latin jazz sampler and it's cooks! i also found a bunch of their cds on the descarga site mentioned above. what a great site! i grew up in iowa and thought latin music was something you used to hear in church. glad i found out different. _________________ Jim Hatfield

Jhatpro,
Check out "The very best of Cubanismo" for a good sample of Alemany's playing. _________________ LTD
