Take a look at the following page:
http://www.purtle.com/jeff_sound.html
Click "Camp Orientation" to see the first improved sound file.
There should be Chapters on the right that will allow you to jump
to key points in the lecture. In addition the sound quality has
been significantly improved.
I am curious what everyone thinks and if it works for everyone.
All the sound files are due to be completed by May or June and
an additional year of the Brass Camp will be added.

I'm afraid it doesn't work, Jeff. The other Sound Files started working a few weeks ago for me (including the Camp Orientation), but now the Camp Orientation file doesn't work. The others still do, though.

HI Jeff,
I'll try the link at the bottom of your page, but I think I already have the latest version of Quicktime.
My computer is brand new, and when I went to the sound file, since there was no version of Quicktime at all in this computer, I was automatically directed to the Apple site where I downloaded Quicktime just prior to trying (again) to listen to the Soundfile.
My computer is an Alienware Laptop with a Pentium IV 3.6 GHz with HT technology, 2 Gb of RAM, dual Disk drives in a RAID O Striped set totalling 120Gb.
Cheers,
John |

Hi Jeff,
I just reinstalled Quicktime from the link at the bottom of your page and the Camp Orientation still does not work. A little window pops up, but it doesn't complete finish loading itself and there is no sound.
The other files work just fine. I think there is a problem with the new version of Camp Orientation.

Please tell me what your set-up is:
Computer, speed, processor, etc..
System
Browser and version
Internet connection speed
I want to make sure it works for everyone.
Try another browser.
It should load just like the other ones except for a seperate file that contains the chapters that go with the sound file.

I did already!
Again: My computer is an Alienware Laptop with a Pentium IV 3.6 GHz with HT technology, 2 Gb of RAM, dual Disk drives in a RAID O Striped set totalling 120Gb.
I should add browser and connection info:
My ISP is Earthlink.net and I use the normal IE Browser. My connection is DSL.
Take care Jeff,

Sorry I missed the previous info..
What version of Windows are you using?
Have you tried it on another browser like Netscape?
I am going to check with my webdesigner guy to see what is wrong.
Very nice sounding computer.
I thought I was the only one with 2 gigs of RAM in my laptop.
I just got a new 17" PowerBook for Christmas and love it.
Let me know if you can get it to work on another browser or not.
I am going to test it on some other computers.

Hi Jeff,
I have XP Pro.
I tried it on a school computer yesterday (Pentum III, Windows 98, Internet Explorer) and it did not work from there either.
I don't have netscape in my computer, but I think they do at the college, so I'll try again today from there with netscape.
Cheers,

I just checked it on my computer.
Something is wrong beyond what computer we are using.
It should be fixed today. Check later.
I am sorry. This is what happens when two people are messing
with things at the same time without communicating.

As Dave Evans would say, "Cool!"
I look forward to listening to the new and improved file(s) when available.
Have a good day Jeff,

IT WORKS!!!
The sound quality is MUCH improved! Everyone should listen to the Camp Orientation sound file. It makes for a great "starter" lecture down the path of using the CG method to make yourself into a great Player.
Cheers,

I am glad you got it to work.
I just heard from the guy working on the sound files that 3 other ones are almost ready to be sent to me and he might redo the first one to make it even better.
What do you think of the chapters? Is it helpful? Did it work for you?

Hey everyone.
I have 3 more updated soundfiles that are soon to be up.
They are the following CG lectures:
The Tongue
Mouthpieces
Great Players and Their Horns
They will all be much cleaner than the current ones and you
will be able to jump immediately to key points in the lectures.
This should make is easier for people to listen to part of a lecture
and come back later and find their place easily.
I anticipate having them up by Friday or sooner.

I have finally updated some more of the Claude Gordon sound files on my site.
Here is the location:
http://www.purtle.com/jeff_sound.html
The updated ones are as follows:
The Tongue (which has some good demonstrations)
Mouthpieces (which is a rare topic for Claude to discuss in public)
Virtuoso and Horns (which is him presenting his cornet collection along with historic recordings)
The sound quality should be much better and each of the files should have Chapters,
which provide a pull-down list to jump to key points in the lecture without the file completely loading.
Let me know what you think.
The one on The Tongue is going to be improve in the next day to load even faster.
Enjoy!

The URL is now here.
https://www.purtle.com/jeff-audio-video
And, my way of presenting all the audio and media has finally been finished. I will be uploading more audio lectures and initially my private students will have access to them and later other people that have authenticated user accounts on my site. Currently there is one CG lecture in the private students only area of my site but I have a couple hundred others to upload. It's sort of time consuming but it is underway finally. I hope to have them all up before the end of the year. I am doing some clinics and concerts and that has to take priority.
Create an account on my site and keep checking that link and the home page for announcements.
