My guess is that you are stuffy and so using less air, playing a little quieter, and squeezing your lips a little more so the high notes come out easier. When you are well, try some (very) soft playing and see if it helps accoomplish the same thing.

You're probably too 'out of it' to think too much about what you are doing. _________________ Dave M.

What?
Don I tried what you said and it's still different from when I am sick. When I was sick I still played with a good sound and wasn't squeezing. I didn't change anything. In fact when I am sick I strive to use more air and concentrate even more. |

Well, that would do it! _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

hey, you are right about the pressure and stuff going on in your throat and in your sinuses. as the air flows through your esophogous it is closed tight due to your cold and then when it hits the top of your throat, around the uvula section, that part is swolen too and produces more pressure so by the time the air leaves your mouth it is well concentrated and normally has some more pressure than normal. Iknow this due to experience and as i study anatomy alot i happened to come to these conclusions which infact seem to be true.*i said "SEEM" im still not sure if its the right answer or not* _________________ "Whenever you make a big mistake, put your horn down and look aghast at the player next to you." -Bill Bryant
