Every time I pick up my horn these days I play the opening of Dvorak's 9th symphony (4th mvt). Does that make me weird?

Nope, I play that every time I turn on the living room CD player, since I'm too lazy to take the disc out.

Triumphal March from Aida. I'm trying to learn how to play it on my weird one-valve Conn herald trumpet, and make it sound somewhat musical (but it is LOUD).

"You're Beautiful" by James Blunt...

He hasn't released his album in the US yet, but he made his radio debut in NYC a month or so ago with a live version of that song. It was amazing.

I take it that he's already popular (or at least known) in Europe??

If any of you can send me a copy of it...of course I'll pay for it...please let me know.

Although I love jazz, classical, etc on trumpet. I'm a prett big fan of new wave and techno as well. I like a lot of 70s and 80s one hit wonders. My favorite type of music is jazz though.

I think I saw La Scala or the Berlin Phil (memory aint what it used to be!) use those in a concert about three months ago on TV. They look hard to play!

Current favorites include the "Wicked" soundtrack and Gwen Stefani's solo CD. They are both fun to listen to & attempt my sad singing with!

I find myself playing "Get it on" from Eric Miyashiro's album Kick Up. Mike Bogart does the vocal on this album and also trades off with Eric. Very nice.

BTW, A Hollaback girl is a girl who doesn't mind being booty call. Just thought I'd respond. Wasn't sure if you were serious or not.

It's basically like a post horn with one valve, and nobody ever said those are easy to play. I can get a pretty good sound, but intonation is, well, whatever you make it. Your right arm is almost straight out, and I hold the mpc in my other hand. I don't think I could play it for very long. Reading music is another challenge altogether, unless you have exceptional peripheral vision. I'm memorizing that fanfare, maybe for Easter or something. But it is very loud! I have a 3 valve herald, and it's much, much louder than that!
