Hi,

I have to do a musical review for my Brass Solo Litereature class and I need a piece that is relativly new. I don't really want to do the Williams solo and I know Ewazen has some stuff out there but what else is there that has come out in the last 4 or 5 years?

Thanks

Derek

There's a very recent concerto by Lowell Liebermann, who is a pretty big deal these days as far as composers go. This piece was premiered (in 1999?) by Philip Smith and the NY Philharmonic. A friend at IU played it a couple of years ago, and I remember it being maybe a bit more harmonically daring than Ewazen's music, but still a bit "tranquilized" on the whole. Anybody else have a critique?

Published by Presser, I think. No commercial recording as far as I know.
