I am a comeback player and minored in music at Northwestern. I just got a new teacher and it is Mr. John Head. He is one of Mr. Adam's students and a very fine teacher. We were talking about air production and Mr. Head said this is how Mr. Adams taugh me and this is the way it's done. I first learned under a very stressful teacher and my air production was limited. Mr. Head made my playing so easy and everything fell into place. He's a great no stress teacher.

Congratulations on finding a GREAT teacher!

It takes energy to play the trumpet, but it has to be relaxed. Effort is OK, but never force. As you relax you gain power by eliminating counterproductive effort and physical tension.

Good luck. Let the sound be your guide.

PH,

Ditto what you said!

I have never seen Mr. Adam however have learned so much about the physical approach to the trumpet from some of Mr Adam's students: Frank Abrahamson, Greeg Neer, Charley Davis ...

I "did" study with Carmine Caruso, and, although the "routine" differs, the "common scense" towards playing the trumpet remains consistant.

I thank Adam students who've shared their knowledge, and hope to learn more!

Regards,

Michael
