Eminent jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, historian and educator James Dapogny passed away peacefully at 2:00 a.m., March 6th, 2019 at the age of 78. Having fought cancer for nine years, Jim was most recently hospitalized last Wednesday, and rested comfortably since the weekend.
There will be no funeral, but an informal celebratory gathering in his honor will be held at the Zal Gaz Grotto Club in Ann Arbor, MI on Sunday, March 24th from 4-8 p.m.
