Is this the same as the Trumpet Concerto? I saw it for sale on the internet today and wasn't sure what it was.... Does anyone know of a recording of it?
Thanks,
Andrew

It is not the same as the Concerto, but it has a lot of similarities to it. It is a seperate piece though. I don't know of any recordings.

I have a recording, its on a CD called "Soviet Trumpet Concertos" and its played by Bibi Black and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra. Its got the Arutunian Concerto, Arutunian Theme and Variations, Pakhmutova Concerto, and teh Vainberg Concerto. I'd never heard of the last two...theyre pretty good though...I like the Arutunian's the best:)

There is a great recording of the Vainburg with Dokshitzer out there as well. Funny piece! Don't know of the Arutunian Variations, but there is an outstanding recording of the Arutunian - Aria and Scherzo by Bob Sullivan, of the NY Philharmonic.
