A on 2nd valve

My guess is a 1973 or so born horn.
What u think?
Iconic sound BTW.

On this site the picture 8 page 2 shows a 1970 bell.
https://www.brasshistory.net/Couesnon%20History.pdf
My own 1962 Couesnon Bb has the same engraving but there is 105 rue Lafayette added.
I assume Couesnon left rue Lafayette after.
My 1981 flugelhorn has a completely different engraving.
So yes, 1973 seems plausible.

Hi
Mine is a 6xxx model with an A on the second valve cylinder. I think mine is from the late sixties. That makes 1973 sound about right. I had Charlie Melk add a Yamaha trigger and do a valve alignment. I bought a GR mouthpipe and I use a Pickett 3FLD mouthpiece. I bought a couple of WT 3 Extreme mouthpieces from Flip Oakes. In his opinion he felt that the original pipe with a French taper mouthpiece was the best combination for sound and intonation.I think that he is right but I need a smaller piece than the Extreme model to do a beter comparison with the GR pipe and Pickett setup.

Hi Folks -

I'm hoping that someone reading this thread can tell me some info regarding the two markings I find on a 1925 Bb Couesnon trumpet I purchased. On the second valve casing on the valve slide side, there is a small "D" above the number "1". Other than the "1 2 3" stamped on the opposite side of the casing, I do not see any other marks. Any insight anyone?

Thanks in advance -

Regarding the "D", take a look at the first post by Voltrane on page 4 of this thread.

Thanks very much for pointing out the relevant section of the thread. I was able to identify the horn I own as a Model 94 from the chart on page 3. Upon closer inspection the word "FRANCE" is stamped into the bottom of the mouthpiece receiver and the number "92" is stamped on top top. I've read in the thread about numbers on the receivers of the flugels as well but the meaning seems to be a mystery. I will probably take the horn into my local shop for a thorough going over - the valve action is pretty high effort at this point and I don't know if that's intentional or the effects of almost 100 years of existence.

This is a great website - thanks again.
