|
|
Not sure if this has been mentioned in another thread... Which double cases (flugel/trumpet) are available where you can leave the mouthpiece receiver pulled out on the flugelhorn? I'm going to hopefully get a double case for my 631g where I won't have to push the receiver back in every time I lay the horn back in the case. So I'm asking you guys that actually have a case that will do the job? Does your case allow you to lay the horn back into the open case while your practicing without taking the mouthpiece out. Seems like when I'm playing at home, I may lay the horn down or pick it back up multiple times during a practice session and I want to be able to just set it down in the case. With the stock 631g case, you can't do that... the horn goes so far down into the case that you have to take off the mpc and push the receiver back in.
thanks |

The ProTec VAX case allows you to leave the receiver out.
I'm not sure how I feel about the case in general...

| Does ProTec make a trumpet/flugel case other than the Vax model.... and if so, does it allow for the receiver to be left in the pulled out position?? |

Just curious, why leave the receiver out? _________________ Schilke '60 B1 -- 229 Bach-C/19-350 Blackburn -- Lawler TL Cornet -- Conn V1 Flugel -- Stomvi Master Bb/A/G picc -- GR mpcs

| not to leave it pulled out when it's packed away in the case but when I've got the horn out at home practicing and I want to simply set it down in the case but leave the case open so I can return to the horn later. |

| looking at some old threads of just over a year ago ... Sept. 2004.... I see where Pro Tec was stopping production of the PB-301F case. Did they start to make it again?? I see it advertised on various sites. |

No straps. There is almost adequate padding to keep the horn in place. In
fact, there is a bit TOO MUCH room in the PB-301F that I have. I actually
have to pull the receiver out a little further to "lock" the horn into place
otherwise, it will move a bit side-to-side. I really should re-work the
padding to secure the horn better but just haven't had the time. As for the
Bb horn, it goes into a very snug, safe slot with no movement at all.
Now that I've taken another at the above photo, I see why I have a "floating
flugel" problem. The older version of the case (the one I have) does not
have the blocking on the right end of the case for mouthpiece storage. Also,
the padding in the lid is slightly different. Maybe, I just need a new case!!

I have the older version of the Protec trumpet/flugel combo case and I've not had any problems. The case provides excellent padded protection. _________________ Yamaha 8310Z

| Why not use a stand to set it on if you are going back and forth? K&M makes a very nice model with five legs that is very secure. I can fit in the bell of the horn when it is in the case or if you prefer not to have anything in there, it will fit in your mute bag or compartment. |

| Ditto to what JDtrumpet said. I put an old sock over the stand for added protection. |

| Yeah, not only is the stand sturdy and convenient, it kind of helps with draining as well. |
