Just do the C books down a step from trumpet IMHO. The tenor players will have to do octave transposition in spots, too. Tough luck. It seems a fair trade for playing an instrument with a freakin' octave key!
This is what they have to do when I make them read out of the Omnibook. |

That's not fair, though. Waving a double-C technique in front of a jazz player is like rocking a pocketwatch in front of us! (Hmmm, a jazz player has comments about this method! Perhaps he's found something to unlock the forbidden secrets of the upper register. Hmmm.. getting sleepy....high notes....ZZZZZ)
