Hey,
I just had a lesson today with Robert W. Smith. He is currently the principal trumpet player for the Florida Orchestra, and is a former student of Chichowicz when he attended Eastman. There were many interesting things that he siad, I am looking forward to studying with him more later on. I'll keep you posted. _________________ www.trumpetherald.com

TG--I am curious about something. You have stated a few times that you approach the upper register like you are vomiting. Does this seem to be in line with the stuff you were getting from this guy? |

Hmm.. No teasing allowed! What did Mr. (Dr.?) Smith have to say? Inquiring minds want to know... _________________ Don Herman/Monument, CO

Hey,
I'm Not meaning to be too secretive here. We didn't cover too much at all really. We discussed his approach to warming up, the use of long tones and the benefits that they provide, but how the same benefits can be gained by using "moving" long tones while not getting some of the disadvantages of using "conventional" long tones.
I think that I will make a couple of different threads discussing the ideas that were thrown at me, giving each one the attention that it deserves, hoping to cover it as accurately as I can, as to avoid confusion on the sending/receiving ends.
Those will still be in this forum. But I have been rather ill recently, so It may be a while until all of the ideas are posted here. But I will try. _________________ www.trumpetherald.com
