Hello, I recently acquired a Stradivarius (Mount Vernon), and I was wondering if someone could tell me what model I have. The only info on the bell is: "Stradivarius Model " According to Bachbrass.com it was made around 1964. I am looking to sell the trumpet, but I want to be able to advertise it correctly.

Any info would be great!

Thank You

Contact Roy Hempley, the scholar in residence at Selmer-Conn and see if you can get a copy of the Bach shop card. It is the only way you will know for sure.

Ok.... So, 11 years later, I still have this Bach Trumpet! Lol. I did contact Roy Hempley a number of years ago and he gave me some excellent information. Apparently, I have a 1964 Selmer made Mt. Vernon trumpet model #180 serial 24xxx. It has a #43 bell on a ML bore body. Now, I will probably just contact an appraiser to find a possible value for the instrument. I will post in the marketplace when I gather my final bit of info.

Sounds like an interesting instrument. I hope you find a buyer and get what you want out of it.

You say it's a Selmer-made Mt. Vernon instrument.

Is it stamped Mt. Vernon on the bell?

Selmer purchased Bach in '61 and moved to Elkhart in 65. So a short window for Selmer Mt Vernon instruments.

I'll up the usual offer, before it's made, to $51.

Is there something special about the Selmer Mt. Vernon? I have that exact horn, nearby serial #. Is it thought better or worse than later ones?

Do an adv. search on eBay for completed auctions for Bach Stradivarius and see what they have been selling for... Condition is key with these older Bach's...

No special Selmer Bach Strads, from the bell still made in Mt. Vernon most likely... Selmer may have been the owner, but no major changes to design until moved to Elkhart in '65...
