Saw his masterclass some years ago in Kopenhagen. Hard to believe what he does with that little horn.

Recently scored his "Trumpet Acrobatics" recording. I got it because of a post someone made of the Willy Brandt Concert Etude which floored me. The entire recording is terrific.

His Brandt No. 1 recording really is impressive:

Yep, another one of those recordings that is totally awe-inspiring and totally depressing all in one gulp!

The Brandt Concertpiece is what introduced me to Hoefs. He's truly one-of-a-kind in tone, flexibility, style.... but, like me, he wasn't able to get that dang F# in tune in the tripling tonguing section! (makes me realize the instrument has some limitations even when played by the world class)

I think he's an exceptional player. Everything he plays is interesting to listen to.

Really wonderful playing. He makes it look so easy, and his approach is wonderfully lyrical. Beautiful tone, expressive and moving. I hope this recording will be available here.

There is some absolutely marvelous stuff of his on the Internet. One of my favorites is the German Brass doing BWV 972 after Vivaldi Violin Concerto.

Highly recommend looking into the YouTube channel Brass Gin, as they have posted a few videos recently of Matthias Hofs with his son and wife, playing duets!!
