funny thing was I had the ears (perfect pitch and all). But because I approached the trumpet in a mechanical nature, they were not of any use. The irony of that was that it also made work on mechanics useless as well.

One can have great ears and yet if you don't develop the imagination and use that when you play you won't play well. But that's a topic more appropriate for the Adam forum...
