I don't know about Stamp, but there are ascending lip bend exercises in Laurie Frink's book Flexus!
It's a great book! I am just getting started on 4 note runs with no valves. IE middle C, D E F E D C. Tough to do! _________________ Matt Canfield

_TrumpeT_,
If by "ascending lip bends" you mean bends like G-G#-G, I think the answer is no. The Stamp book has one page with lip bend exercises, and they are all of the "descending" variety (G-Gb-G). This doesn't mean he never used them in his teaching, just that they are not in the book.
I don't claim to be an expert on Stamp, but ascending lip bends seem to me not to fit well with Stamp's general approach. This is my personal intuition, and I would gladly accept a correction from someone more knowledgeable. _________________ Steve Thiel |

I'm not familiar with this technique. What is the purpose of lip bends?
Thanks

pitch bending is wonderful for setting your form and also for helping you get a nice, open sound. Try to get as good as sound as you can on the bend and then "snap" it back up to the normal pitch. At least that is bending in a nutshell.

I don't have the book!
I had read about Hardenberger using lip bends (from Stamp exercises I think). But he only mentioned about bends only going down, hence my question. |

"I don't have the book!"
Get it, worth many times what you pay for it..if you practice correctly from it. |
