I suggest contacting Jay Lichtmann. He has a little paper that sums it all up. I can't seem to find it. _________________ Joe Petrocelli |

pawel,
Look at the "Dissecting Stamp Threads" at the top of this forum.

janet842 has done an excellent job of explaining his methodology. I have also written a thread on Stamp that you might check out:

Stamps ideas about mouthpiece buzzing, pedal tones, air and chop position have helped innumerable trumpeters over the years. I hope it will work for you also. _________________ In his retirement he had become that most dreaded of former athletes, the one who always remembered how much harder it was in his day "when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel."

I began my return from a long time off, and have found Stamp's method to work wonders.
I like to divide the C/D/C/G/A/G/c... progression into three parts. Of course, this is after performing the lip and mouthpiece buzzing as shown on the introductory page.
I play the top half of the exercise (#3?), the basic Stamp progression, beginning at staff C and work down to end with the pedal tone C. I yet do not have this open, and must use 123 valves and lip it down - but now it is there, that pedal C!
After that I take a minute or so, then do the first page of the eighth-note scale studies in one key. Yes, I rest after every couple of lines, and I play softly.
Then comes a return to the bottom half of the exercise 3. Again I follow this with the Stamp 6 scale exercise first page - this time in a different key.
I conclude this part of my day with the next pages which extend exercise 3. These have an ascending arpeggio and scales to C above the staff. I go as far as I can without strain.
This is basic, but it works to build my foundation. So simple. Perhaps you have gone beyond this?
Changing from one to another exercise encourages me to put down the horn and get a little rest many times in my program. Rest is good. _________________ kochaavim, csillaagkep, αστερρισμός, konnstelacji, connstellation... ...a.k.a. the 28A!

I also recommend the Poper book. I've studied with him and his approach to Stamp (his teacher) is accurate and useful. |
